Your theme must have a form on it. Commenting on a category page isn’t really part of the archive file.

To shut off comments in WordPress there’s an article here

As for WooCommerce you’ll need to go into WooCommerce > Settings > Products scroll down and click disable reviews if you don’t want people commenting.

Reach out to the theme author to ask why there’s a comment form on the archive file.

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

hi this is not yet resolved. i’ve just had a very busy week and haven’t had a chance to try the suggestion yet.

can you pleas change it back to open?

hi, my theme does not have a form on it per the theme support. they finally got back to me. they do not know how a comment was allowed on a category. as far as i know, i have comments turned off on all my pages (per the suggestion above).

@stargirl1 Unless it’s spam, abuse or something broken in the forums please do not report topics again.

It is not a means to get faster support, it only gets forum moderators attention and no one else.

hi, i did not use to get faster support. how can i get any support if a post is marked as resolved when it is not? when i read about modlook before i used it, it says “It should be added when in your opinion a forum moderator needs to take action on a post or thread.”

i didn’t know that modlook could not be used to reopen a post. in the future, should i just make a new post if it has been resolved and it has not been?

i see that this post is still marked as resolved when the issue has not been.

@stargirl1 please provide a screenshot of the comment also the page URL would be great too. It’s very difficult to assist without a page URL.

unfortunately i deleted the spam comment before i could get a screen shot of it before i deleted it. i guess i will just have to wait and see if it happens again?

Well, do you still have the URL of the page it was on? Or did you just see it in the backend of the comment section?

unfortunately i only saw it in the backend. i am not even finished building the webshop so i panicked when i saw the comment. unfortunately i deleted it before i could get a screenshot of it and i can’t recall which category it was on.
