• When people attempt to leave a comment on a post my blog, https://www.elscapades.com, they receive an error stating:

“Sorry, but the page you were trying to view does not exist.
It looks like this was the result of either:

    a mistyped address
    an out-of-date link”

I have updated all plugins, theme and wordpress, deactivated and reactivated all plugins, and re-saved my permalinks but none of this has worked.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Hi elbake,

Could be a problem with missing files. Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php – from a fresh download of your current WordPress version. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Do I do this through my FTP? I am worried that if I delete things, it may screw up everything… for example, in my FTP I have a file called wp-atom.php which is not a file in the new wordpress download.

    Hi elbake,

yes, through FTP such as FileZilla

before you delete everything except I mentioned some folders and a file
Please back all folders and files up into your local PC

    hm..
    wp-atom.php is very old one.

What version of WordPress are you using now?

I uploaded the new wordpress to my FTP after deleting all files and folders you specified. Comments are still not working.
Any other ideas? Perhaps it’s my theme…

    Hi elbake,

okay, then could you deactivate all plugins and then test it please.
If it works, one of your installed plugin has issue.

    Please let me know

I have already tried deactivating and reactivating all plugins (as well as checking one at a time), and it did not work unfortunately.

    Hi elbake,

Could you just deactivate all? and don’t reactivate any of those.
    and then test again ??

Hi again! I was never able to correct this issue. I did everything you recommended, unfortunately non of it worked. Any other ideas?
    Thanks ??
