• Do you plan to allow for paginated comments where users can jump to any comment page? Right now readers are forced to view the comments sequentially one way or the other. Comments in the middle are hard to reach.

Also, for posts with thousands of comments, I find the “Load more” function takes a lot of time to display the next batch. Around 10-15 seconds. Have you noticed this?

    Hi bhagwad,

    There isn’t yet.

Are you sure you use [Load More Comments] instead of [Load Rest of Comments]? Also if you use [Load More Comments] one you can set less number of comments per page to increase the speed.

Yes if I reduce the number of comments per page, the time decreases. Even with 2 new threads per load however, it pauses for 3 seconds. Some of my comment threads are pretty long so the delay becomes unbearable if I want to load say 5 new threads per page.

This ties in with my question on pagination. The native WordPress comments load much faster with pagination. Can there be something similar for WpDiscuz?

The matter is that wpDiscuz loads 10 threads within 0.8 – 1 sec on our tested websites. Maybe some plugins make it longer on your wordpress. Or maybe it’s a hosting issue. However we’re currently working on wpDiscuz performance and making it faster. It’ll be better in next releases for sure.

Have you tested threads which have a lot of replies and sub-replies to them? If you want, you can use the access credentials on my blog I sent across earlier. I’ve set it to 5 threads for starters…

Ok, we’ll test it on your website too. Hope the login details sent before are ok.

    Hi,
wpDiscuz loads 5 threads (about 40 large comments) within 2.37 seconds on your website, please watch this video: https://screencast.com/t/xWOGxU0X

As far as I see about 2-5 seconds spends Firefox to display the loaded content, it’s browser issue. However we’re currently working on gzip-ing loaded content and optimizing the size, so it’ll turn 2.37 to 0.4 second.

    Great idea. Thanks!
