Comment Spam

  • The amount of spam subscriptions I get with the aweber comment plugin is through the roof. My blog receives about 40,000 uniques a month and 10 new sign ups a day.

    Since installing the plugin, I get about 600 spam sign ups. Thank goodness for double opt-in. About 5% of spam actually double opt-in then unsubscribe soon after, most likely just to get my email.

    I’ve deactivated the plugin for now as the few extra subscribers I’d get is not worth the potential spam issues. What can be about this?

    Delete this plug-in! It’s no longer supported. It will fill up your list with spam subscribers from an auto-bot which will cause you to go over your subscribers count and you will be charged the next rate. That’s what happened to me with AWeber. They cordially removed the extra $10 fee because they are great like that, but I will delete this plugin.

    Any alternative plugins for this purpose anyone can recommend?
