  • Delete wp-comments-post.php

    1. Update to version 1.5 – though it’s not an easy decision to make because it’s a major upgrade.

    2. Dealing with Comment Span is a good article about dealing with this subject in WordPress on the WordPress Codex, official documentation for the program.

    3. Seriously reconsider upgrading to v1.5 – saved me HOURS of spam dealings.

    tks for the response.
I thought about upgrading, but the major changes made me hesitant.

another thing I noticed is that I deleted:

    wp-comments.php
    wp-comments-popup.php
    wp-comments-post.php
    wp-comments-reply.php
    wp-commentsrss2.php

and still there is a steady stream of spam [awaiting mod].
The question is how is this possible?

    Read this:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/spam/#seven
and the two links at the bottom. They may already be there.

And upgrading ? I’m using drdave’s excellent SpamKarma2 and it kills all spam – and trackback spam – that I get.
