The Comment Spam feature requires that a checkbox be checked in order to comment, but this checkbox is hidden so no one can comment. If I disable Comment protection altogether then users can comment, but I would really like to have the protection on.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your question.

It would be great if you could let us know what checkbox you’re referring to, please. Is it about “I’m not a spammer.” checkbox or Recaptcha?

Also, do you use any other plugin that might affect this checkbox? Perhaps SG Optimizer plugin?

    Many thanks.

    Hi,

This is the “I’m not a spammer.” checkbox.

I do have plugins installed, but none that I can think of that might be causing this issue. I don’t have SG Optimizer installed.

It seems you’re using a plugin/theme that is customizing your comment form in some way, away from the standard WordPress comment forms. Shield can’t integrate with customized comment forms without custom coding. We have a Pro-only feature for handling some of these scenarios, but it’s pro usually because it requires help from our support team to handle.
    What’s your URL?
