Comment spam – where is it coming from?

  • I have WordPress 2.0.5

    Under Options -> Discussion, I have “Allow people to post comments on the article” enabled.

    Under Options -> General, I have “Anyone can register” and “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” enabled on both.

    Yet I kept getting comment spam on my postings and they are not registered users to my blog.

    How are they doing it and how can I stop it? I’ve looked all over my settings and it appears fine.

  • Those are NOT comment spam. Trackback.
    Install some anti-spam plugins, like Akismet, BadBehavior, SpamKarma2. Any 2 of those should work.
