Commenting and Linking issues

Hey everyone –

I have switched a site over using the Starkers theme (https://elliotjaystocks.com/starkers/) but am now encountering some issues.

1. I have two logins. One is the typical “name.wordpress.com” and the other is the “name.com/wp-admin” site. I am only able to make posts to the wp-admin that show up on the main site. This is just the side note. The problem is the Permalink that the site is creating doesn’t really create a link at all. It just takes you to a page that isn’t there (404). I’m using the httpdocs > wp-content > themes > starkers.

2. The categories are not working nor are the comments. Am I supposed to link this somewhere in the comments.php or is it an index.php issue? I am so confused as to why these are not linking up. I have a feeling there’s a lot more to this issue than meets the eye, but I’m hoping it is a quick fix.

I hope that this is coherent enough to at least get some help. It’s my first theme so it’s a learning curve. I hope you guys can help!
