Comments!

  • I know there are hundreds of questions and answers about this and I’ve done what most of them suggest (the ones I understand anyway!)
    My problem is after enabling comments, and setting the parameters in reading there is still no comments box at the end of posts for readers to leave a comment. I can leave one after I’ve written the post but readers can’t.
    Please can you help? (Keep it simple I’m a terrible Luddite!)

  • Hi Lucy,

    What boxes do you have checked off under Settings > Discussion in your dashboard? As an example, here is a screenshot of my current settings where I have turned off comments on new Posts, and I also require users to be logged in before they can leave a comment on any Posts or Pages where I have allowed comments:

    If you want to allow anyone to leave a comment without being a registered user, uncheck the box next to “Users must be registered and logged in to comment” in the Other comment settings area. Use that with caution and make sure you have something like Akismet or Antispam Bee set up to protect against Spam comments.
