Comments Always Going to Moderation…Grrr!

  • Hi All,

    I’ve running a modded version of WordPress (1.5.2 that’s been modded to work with Xoops). It works well, but I can’t seem to turn comment moderation off. It’s on and I don’t want it on.

    I think the problem is that I don’t have anything entered in the comment moderation ‘max number of links in a comment’ setting. I can’t seem to set anything in there (it doesn’t save). I assume this is the mod that has broken it, so I want to go into the database itself and set a value. Unfortunately, I can’t find the setting. I assume it’s in the options table, but I don’t see anything that looks like ‘comment max links’ or any such thing.

    Can someone tell me what table/record to look at? I assume it’s in options somewhere, but I can’t find it.

  • i cant answer your question specifically right this second, however there is one other thing thats simple that you can check, and this will cause ALL comments to go into moderation…

    check your comment moderation blacklist.. IF you have any blank lines between entries.. like so:

    spamword1

    spamword2

    you need to fix them..

    Hi Whoami,

    Yeah, I saw that post in the wiki and checked that out. There’s nothing at all (no spaced or nothing) in my blacklist. Still all comments go into moderation.

    I’m fairly sure that it’s my install that’s borked because I can’t set the time via the options interface either. I had to manually go and plunk my GMT offset into the database manually.

    Sounds to me as if you’d better back up your database and reinstall…. but no, I really don’t have any idea where to locate comment-moderation in the database…. I’ve never had to go looking for it (which is when I generally find things in the database…. and sometimes it can take hours of looking!)

    Yeah, I’m aware that there’s something rotten with this mod. However, I really don’t see any choice. It’s the only mod out there that I’m aware of for Xoops and I that’s what I need right now.

    I guess I didn’t realize that what I was asking was such a big deal. I thought that it would be a no-brainer for one of power users or developers to point me in the right direction. I guess that’s not the case.
