• I’ve been using the Akismet plugin to sort out spam comments for over 2 years now and find it quite effective.

A commenter has been frequenting our site for months and posting comments regularly without incident… until a few weeks ago, all his comments get marked as “Awaiting Moderation” and need to be approved before they appear publicly. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed — his email address is the same. He is not using any blacklisted words, yet ALL of his comments get marked for moderation.

Any idea what could cause this?

  • Your commenter could have managed to on a spam blacklist somewhere. I can happen, even to good people. I know a publisher who periodically gets blacklisted. She sends and receives thousands of legitimate emails a month and once and awhile some of them snags on a filter somewhere– usually a hotmail one. I’m not well versed in the intricacies of Akismet’s spam filtering though. If you approve a comment, things don’t improve?

    apljdi,

when i approve a comment, things do not improve. still, his comments get marked for moderation no matter what.

is there some kind of “whitelist” plugin available?
