On the blog for my website LivingOutLive.com it says Comments Are Closed at the bottom of the blog. I have tried deactivating all plugins, making sure my settings in the Discussion area are appropriate and still nothing. There is no check box when I’m writing a new post to allow comments or not. Can someone please help me with this? It’s super frustrating.

There is no check box when I’m writing a new post to allow comments or not.

then activate that ‘discussion’ area below the editor, by clicking on ‘screen options’ near the top right of that page, and by ticking the ‘discussion’ box.
then scroll down to find the ‘allow comments’ section.

plaese make yourself familiar with every tab and button and option in your dashboard.

There is no option for that under the Screen Options section

when you are writing or editing a post, you say there is no ‘screen options’ tab beside the ‘help’ tab near the top right of the ‘edit post’ page in the dashboard?

    strange…

    alternatively try:

dashboard – posts – all posts: click the quick-edit link below the post name, then tick ‘allow comments’

No, there IS a screen options tab but when I expand that out there is no option for discussion or anything of the sort.

are you sure you are on the ‘edit page’ page in the dashboard when you click the ‘screen options’?

the ‘screen options’ are context sensitive and different for all the dashboard pages.

however, have you tried the ‘quick-edit’ approach?

Yes I was on the edit page. However, when i went to the post list view and clicked on Quick-Edit and it worked! Odd how it doesn’t let me do it inside the post but only in the quick version. Regardless, thank you good sir!
