• Hi there,

I recently discovered that there are a random large number of posts on my website where the comments are disabled. I’ve been debugged this issue as much as physically possible at this point. I’ve deactivated plugins to see if that’s the issue with no luck. I’ve also gone into each post to ensure that the comments are enabled. I’ve also gone into the general WordPress Discussion settings and all the settings appear to be in order there.

Could someone help me with this issue?

    Thanks,
    Sarah

I’ve deactivated plugins to see if that’s the issue with no luck.

Also try switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Twenty, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site

That wasn’t the most helpful advice. I switched themes like you said and my theme didn’t save it’s settings and now my homepage is messed up and the comments issue is still there.

    Sorry to hear that.

But, switching theme for a moment and back should not do that.

I test new theme and temporarily switch back and forth, but I don’t experience such issue.

By the way, switching for moment for troubleshooting purposes is a very basic troubleshooting step which we recommend routinely. See trouble shooting Master List https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-5-5-master-list/?view=all

If you have a backup of your theme, try restoring it.

But it did in fact do that. You should really check your knowledge against outside sources other than your own experience before you go giving out advice to other people.
