Comments disappeared and can’t leave new ones

    All of a sudden I can’t leave comments on my own posts, and am wondering if other people are leaving comments I don’t see. I’ve left two comments on my own posts. The link below is to one post, and the comment I left two years ago is gone, although I can see it in my Dashboard. In another post the comment was just a graphic and it shows. I can’t leave new comments on posts.

    I have checked all the settings I can. In the “Discussion Settings” page, the setting is enabled to allow comments on my site. Likewise on the post pages themselves. I’ve read three articles about what might be wrong and none help. I deactivated Akismet and no help (then I reactivated it).

    When I try to post a comment on my post, after I hit reply instead of a comment I see a graphic of my dashboard header. When I refresh the page even that is gone.

    Hi David,

    I’m sorry to hear about this error.

    Can you try disabling Jetpack Comments, and let me know if that helps?

    Thanks, Ben, that was the problem. When I was hunting around for solutions earlier I hestitated to disable Jetpack Comments because I wanted users to be able to log in with a Facebook or WordPress account. I guess they will have to wait for me to approve the comment, or else register on my site. If there’s a workaround I’d love to know. For now, this works, thanks again.

    Glad I could help!

    I’m not too familiar with the Jetpack Comments plugin, so I’d recommend reaching out to them about this. They’re pretty proactive with support and may be able to offer a better slution.
