• I know this will probably be answered and I will say duh-huh, I should have seen that. But here’s the problem. When I click on comments on https://cheapeasywebhosting.info, it pops up the site https://cheapeasywebhosting.net . I realize I set this up when I installed WP, but for the life of me, I can’t find the reference to the wacky url comment happening thing in administration. Please check out http;//cheapeasywebhosting.info, click on comments and you will see what I am talking about. Then please let me know what entry I have to change, to get rid of this spurious window and just have a comments window display

  • Check in your Options/General page – see if the URLs in both address fields match.

Correction, its the no comments tag when clicked that sends you to the other web site from the no comments tag at https://cheapeasywebhosting.info Basically I want to get my blogs home page or a better looking page than the messy page that pops up.

    Sorry for any confusion…..

    The urls do match…

is there a template I need to edit?

    1. Try to validate first the page (142 errors) and after that it might be easy to find what the problem is.
Also check your single.php and comments.php templates – try to replace them with a fresh download.

    Thanks for the advice.
I am completely new to this program, and fantastico installed the program automatically for me. I don’t know how to validate the page is ther site I can go to to enter a url which will then validate the url?
Also, what directory contains the single.php and comments.php template?

    Thanks,

    Rob

    1. https://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=https://cheapeasywebhosting.info/
    2. All the template files are in the theme folder of the theme you are using, e.g. wp-content/themes/default. You are using the Default theme.

    Thanks,
I’ve looked through these files and have found no references to the spurious link.

    I’ll continue thereafter…..

Re the quick fix, uploading original copies of single.php and comments.php….I’ll try that…maybe that will take care of it with no fuss…but first I will back up the current single.php and comments.php

    Again I appreciate your assistance

Well here i am commenting at last, and I certainly invite others to comment. I had a problem with my comments, whenever I hit no comments, wordpress would display a subdirectory index page from the site. Well it turns out that I had the permalink structure defined in a way that caused the spurious page to display. So when I removed the permalink customization, lo and behold comments became enabled. Looks like I will have to study the concept an implemntation of permalinks a little more closely.
Ta ta for now! Check out Please make a comment now, I want to learn about permalinks!
