• everytime i try to comment on my site, it takes me to: https://highfivehero.net/wp-comments-post.php

while i know this is a common problem, nothing from previous threads is working for me.

this problem just started tonight out of nowhere. i’ve re-uploaded all files, AND i tried the default theme (which had the same result).

    any suggestions?

nope! i’ve already checked out most threads on the site. nothing is working!

could it be in the DB?

    What’s your current permalink structure?

Double check via your DataBase, for your blog urls:

By the way, I tried viewing your blog, but..Timed out for me..

yeah, i’m going to try another re-install, but this time i will comment before i import the DB… then if it doesnt work after, there is something wrong with the DB!

Huh!? What you doing? Why not just DO what I ask/do what I had said.. FIRST!? What are talking about importing the DB for? Wasn’t this a FRESH install 5 times ago!? Hahaha.. Jeesh Jack.. =P

If you want, drop an install request here, I’ll handle it for you. ??

I have the same problem with my new blog:

haha spencerp i love the enthusiasm! i consider myself pretty experienced with wordpress, and know it’s not a problem with my theme.. at all.

this morning, i deleted everything and did a fresh install. this time i did not install it, i used DreamHosts “1 Click Install”. I set up a blog and comments worked.

i then deleted that DB and imported a copy of my saved one. the blog was still using the default theme, and comments no longer worked.

from this, i conclude that it’s a problem with the database.. a problem i know nothing about and wouldn’t know where to start to fix it! any suggestions?

does anyone have knowledge of how the DB works?

Why am I getting the “feeling”, that no one is READING..what we’ve put here already, for you.. =/

When you had done the DB import, was this a backup of a Database, while the blog was on another domain name URL? If so, like I said above there.. why not try this once:

Double check via your DataBase, to make sure your BLOG URL’S are BOTH CORRECT:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/site-url/

When “restoring/importing” the Database, why not follow this guide here:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/restore/

There is OTHER guides here, that might help too:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/

Under the MOVING and PHPMYADMIN sections.. possibly.. OR, if you want, like I said above.. If you want, drop an install request here, I’ll handle it for you. ??

spencerp i’m sorry that you got the feeling that i was not READING what you supplied to help me. believe me when i say that i did read everything, and try everything (a few times), especially checking and re-checking the blogs url being correct both times. i really do appreciate your help!

i also used every single link that you supplied for me! nothing managed to fix the problem..

in the end, i gave up.. since the blog only had like 9 posts, i just saved the rss feed. i reinstalled WP, and imported the feed. i manually placed the comments back in.

thanks again for all of your help! i really do appreciate it.

we had a similar problem recently and the following solution fixed the problem:

background: Our blog is installed on https://www.technology-hosting.net/blog. We also have the DNS for https://www.iforg.net mapped to https://www.technology-hosting.net. So you can access the blog either through https://www.iforg.net/blog or https://www.technology-hosting.net/blog.

The problem was due to the URL setting in the admin page: Options_General.

    The setting should be:

    https://technology-hosting.net/blog (for WordPress address)
    and
    https://iforg.net/blog (for Blog address)

    ——

When we had both setting as https://iforg.net/blog; the comments did not work…

    —–
So go back and check configuration of your website..good luck

I’m having the exact same problem.

    I’ve posted my findings here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/120475

I am at a loss. This just started happening to me and none of the suggestions above work. The comments were working this morning. The only change I made was installed a plugin called U-Mail to fix the problem of auto emails defaulting to my Cpanel account name.

I didn’t notice it at first but later in the day I went to reply to some comments and now I get that blank page with the URL: https://blackjackskanz.com/wp-comments-post.php

After trying the database solutions above the comments page also now no longer recognizes that I am logged in.

The only other strange thing I noticed was when I did go to PHP ADMIN my home setting under URL was blank.

Right now I have these settings under Options

    WordPress address (URL): https://www.blackjackskanz.com
    Blog address (URL): https://www.blackjackskanz.com

My blog is installed the root public HTML (not inside of any sub folders).

    No theme changes.

    1 sec..

that plugin makes NO changes to either of those 2 settings – and Im going to suggest that its merely coincidental that you noticed this after having installed that.

your wp-comments-post.php is sending a 405 even with a valid post — thats also not a result of the plugin. As a 404 IS to be expected when that page is called via a standard http_get (opposite of a post) something is interfering with the normal post causing wordpress to see a “get” instead.
