Comments Dropping Off Posts – Please Help

    Hi there,

    I run the blog using Word Press 2.5 and since mid July posts have randomly been dropping off the blogs.

    It doesn’t matter whether they are comments on a new post, or a really old post, they randomly drop off.

    Example: 12 test comments posted on 1 post 30 seconds apart.

    – comment 7 drops off within 30 mins.
    – comment 10 drops off 2 days later
    – 3 comments drop off the day after.

    It’s just ALL random but doesn’t seem to affect comments made if they manage to hand on for around a month. (They then stay on)

    Any ideas, PLEASE HELP!

  • What exactly do you mean by “drop off”? They disappear from your WEBSITE and DATABASE?

    Yes they disappear from the website AND database.

    Also, if i try and re-approve the comments using the email link the Word Press sends me oroginally to do with moderating the comments, all i get is…

    “Oops, no comment with this ID. Go back!”

    Hope this is of some help.

    That’s new to me. Never had this happen in any of installs.
    Can you re-upload your WP version install or upgrade to 2.6.1? Is your website hosted in your own server or with webhosting company?

    We host on our own dedicated server yet to our knowledge we hadn’t made any changes to the site before these errors occured.

    The problem being is that our true ‘technical guy’ isn’t pulling his weight so may even be a task to get us upgraded to 2.6.1! Will try my hardest now i know knowone else has had similar problems on 2.5.
