I have been working on this blog:
    https://theaverageconsumer.com/

When you go to leave a comment on a blog post, after clicking submit you get an error message:
Error 1: Click back and type in the password.

Does anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

    Thanks,
    Tabitha

  • Mods,

uyghurbeg has left only this one message above on www.ads-software.com with this account, in an attempt to make my plugin look bad after being blocked for spamming my blog.

    Please close this thread.

I installed this plugin and was told that people could not leave comments. I deactivated and uninstalled it, but I am still getting the same error. Help!

    Thanks,

    Kris

The plugin does nothing when it is deactivated. The plugin does not modify your comment form, or anything in the database, so the issue is not related to the plugin.

The reason it didn’t work when it was activated is because you needed to modify your comment form, since it does not use the comment_form function built into WordPress 3.0 and above.

Please note. If you have a support issue, then open a new thread. Old threads that are resolved, and now 8 months old, are not for new issues.

Thanks for the reply. I commented here because I had the same issue as the above posters. FYI, it was indeed this plugin causing. I thought I had deactivated it but I had accidentally deactivated another with a similar name. But, as soon as I deactivated Spam Free WordPress all started working again.

    Thanks.

I had the same problem, and it was fixed by simply deactivating the Spam Free WordPress plug in.

starbettings created this account to spam the forum with a link to his gambling web site.

Spam is getting to be a problem on the WordPress forums.

Todd, you can add the modlook tag to report spam, then the moderators will see it and be able to deal with it.

Thanks so much for that modlook tip.

Why did you mark this as modlook? It was not necessary. The spammy sig link has already been dealt with.

    Use modlook only when necessary.
