• I got a comment that was just jibberish go through, but as I was checking it, it didn’t seem like a spam comment. I think it turned out to be a comment made in another language on my website. I ended up deleting it since I couldn’t understand it, but is there a way that I can either have it translated or something so that it doesn’t just appear to be spam?

  • Erm, I suppose you could come up with a plugin that would allow the visitor to select a language option from a dropdown menu, which would then filter the comment through a translation script in the appropriate language, but I have no idea how you would go about doing it… As a sidenote, Bayesian translation would probably put a lot less strain on your server, imo, if this is gonna be a regular thing. ??

heh I don’t think it’ll be a regular thing, and I’m still not 100% sure that it wasn’t actually spam and not a legit comment in another language. Just wondering if there are anyways to really figure it out.

Depends on what you mean by “jibberish”. Were there numerous ? and box characters and such? Then it could have been a legit post. If rather it was something like :

    fkslfmk flfefekmlfemkf lefmkelfemfklewfmkel feklmaewle

It’s likely to be spam, or comment graffiti.

ah ok, then it was most likely comment grafiti. It was just interesting because the link that it had was for a college in Europe which seemed legit.

    Either that, or it’s in Welsh… ??
