Comments linking to wrong post's

  • Hello,
    my website was working before adding one pluging and updating so don’t know what caused the bug. All the comments (Recent Comments) link to the same post and that post doesn’t have any comments. If i revove the post it just moves on to the next post. I have restored a back up i made but it stills does it. I removed all the posts and comments and added new ones and the same problem poped up.

    Hi,

    Have you tried disabling any plugins you may have and seeing if the problem persists then, or maybe even trying one of the default themes (like Twenty Sixteen)?

    I’m not seeing any issues with the recent comments section of the Dashboard not the widget for it my self so it sounds like something is interfering with it.

    I tried it and it still links to the wrong post. Under recent comments all the comments there links to one post that doesn’t even have any comments how to reset or fix this? I don’t think it is a theme error it does the same on default themes

    once the comments are located to a wrong post, this is likely be set fixed in the database, and will not change for existing comments, even if you change the theme.

    if the error continues with the default themes, when new comments are added, it is possibly due to a plugin.

    temporarily deactivatea all plugins to see if that changes where new comments are getting added.
