    Please help us out!

after upgrading from 2.9.2 to 3.0 posts say no comments, however there were several prior. I’ve tried deactivating all of the plugins and still same problem. Also, tried re-installing 3.0 and same result. site can be seen at https://sarahmaren.com

Also tried to replace comments.php with no avail, and a theme change did not resolve the issue either. I am truly stumped as to what my next step is. If you click on an individual post, the comments appear normally. But, when you are just looking from the home page, comments sections say that there are none.

I don’t want to high-jack this thread, but I have a similar problem and it seems from searching the site, many others do too.

The blog shows a comment is available, I have approved it, but when clicking on it, it doesn’t work and says “NO COMMENTS YET”. What could be the problem please?

Here is a link for you to see what I mean:

Notice the current post at the top has a comment. Try clicking on it to see the result.

Any guidance would be gratefully received.

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    – increasing the available memory?

    OK – update;

certainly, if I revert to the default theme, it works just fine.

I’ve tried it with my existing plugins and they work fine too.

Unfortunately, I love the theme I’m using, so for the moment, I’ll have to live with the problem.

Perhaps the theme developer will come up with a fix in due course.

In the meantime, it may be a good opportunity to experiment, with the default theme, to see how I can blend it into my existing site. I can do this on my spare development server.

Although I have an intermediate knowledge of html, my php knowledge is zero, so it’ll be a challenge.

    Thanks for your guidance.

    Yes; Yes; YES!!!

Just noticed an update to the theme is available and now the comments work.

So to recap, in my case, the WordPress update needed a theme update to resolve whatever was causing the problem.

When you stop and think about it; not at all unreasonable.

Thanks again for putting me on the right track.

Glad to hear that you got it all working again.
