Comments on BuddyPress activity not shown

  • I’ve just installed Custom Community 1.14 (with WordPress 3.5.1 and BuddyPress 1.6.4) and everything looks great so far, except for this problem.

    Under the “Show all 8 comments” button there is a tall blank space — for some reason the hidden comments are still occupying some space. And after clicking the button, the hidden comments, comment 1 to 3, are still not shown.

    What could the problem be? Thank you!

  • I have never seen this problem before. can you list the buddypress plugins you use?

    Nothing apart from buddypress itself! It is a test site that is relatively clean. I have installed a number of plug-ins but they are all disabled now. The only active wordpress plug-in is BuddyPress 1.6.4.

    The Overwrite CSS tab of Custom Community is left empty. I have also just removed CC, and reinstalled it again (through Appearance -> Add New Theme), to be sure that I get the latest files. The problem still persists.

    The problem does not appear in, for example, BP default theme. So it seems to be a problem in CC…

    I tried some earlier versions of CC from github. The problem still persists in 1.13, but does not present if I revert back to 1.10! I have not tried other versions yet.

    Must be some of the changes between 1.10 and 1.13?

    Some more testing.

    As mentioned above, the page still appears okay with CC 1.10 (Nov 14, 2012, “fixed last issues for 1.10 free”), but breaks after the next commit (Dec 12, 2012, “BIG MERGE NEW CC FREE VERSION 1.12beta”, which is actually CC 1.11beta). Something in the update resulted in the problem.

    The commit on Dec 12, 2012 was a rather big one, so it is perhaps not so informative. Still, hope it helps to solve the problem. If there is anything I could do that would be helpful, please let me know.

    Yes, I know. I meant that the problem started to appear for every version after 1.11, including 1.14.

    More info: the problem goes away if responsive mode is disabled.

    thanks for that great detailed hints,
    there seems to be a problem with the hidden comments indeed.

    You are welcome to comment further insights there directly.

    Bug will be analyzed and fixed for the next version.
    Maybe the dev will come back to you if he cannot reproduce.
