Comments on Category Pages

  • I can’t seem to find a plugin that would allow comments for the Category pages. I try to get my Category pages to be as useful and informative as possible, so I really would like to add comments to them. Is it possible? Neither googling, nor using the WordPress Plugin search helped me.

  • Not as far as I’ve seen mate, sometimes you might find a specific theme that would allow this, but in general category pages are just there as a mapping device for your content.

    Anyone know if I encounter some big unforeseen problems if I just copy/paste commentary code from single.php to archive.php (to Category part)? Can WP handle comments for Categories by default?

    Categories are just lists of posts, so WP can happily handle the comments on each of the posts, yes.

    esmi, I don’t want the Category page to show comments on each post in that category. I want separate comments for the whole Category page.

    Comments are only attached to Posts or Pages. as a category is only a list of Posts, you can’t attach comments to it. That’s simply not how WordPress works.

    esmi, I am pretty sure there’s no real coding obstacle to overcome that limit. Haven’t anyone tried to code such plugin?
