• Hi, since a few weeks back any new post created from the iOS app has comments disabled by default even though my global setting is for comments to be enabled.

Any post created from the web/desktop works as it should so there’s definitely something wrong with the app. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

    WordPress iOS version: 25.2 (25.2.0.1)
    Self hosted wordpress version: 6.6.1

    Thanks,
    Emma

  • Hello Emma – could you please confirm if you have any extra plugin installed for creating or managing comments or if you have any plugins installed to protect your site from spam comments? If there is any plugin install on your site that has something to do with the WordPress comments feature, could you please temporarily uninstall that plugin and check again if the same issue issue is still there?

Hi! I have Akismet installed, but even when disabling all plugins related to comments it still happens

Hello Emma – I can’t reproduce the issue on our side. Could you please temporarily switch your site to default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty and then try to create post from iOS to check if the comments are still off?

    Hi @emmakraft,

I’m still unable to replicate this. I tried with the following environment: iOS v17.7, WordPress app for iOS v25.3. Whenever I duplicate a post, the comments are enabled on that new post as well.

If the issue persists for you, can you please share a video screen capture sowing the steps you take when this happens?
