    You shouldn’t need to add any opt-in check box code if you have the latest WP version and have selected the option in discussion settings. If it does not appear, it means your theme is overriding the normal WP form.

    The blocking of the other fields seems to be a result of your theme taking the action when a different sort of checkbox for not saving user data at all was in place and the logic persisted despite the purpose of the checkbox changing. You should contact the theme’s developers for guidance.

    It’s not the theme, as we have a demo of the theme on another domain, and that uses the same style, but doesn’t have the issue.

    Happy to somehow PM you that link (it’s not known, so we keep it private).

    If it’s not the theme, it must be due to a plugin. Use the health-check plugin’s troubleshooting mode to help you isolate the source of the behavior.
