Comments stopped counting, and stopped displaying the new ones to visitors

a couple days ago my comment count stopped at 117. i don’t know why. since then, it’s been over thirty new comments, and they show up on my dashboard, and i approve them, and everything looks normal, except that visitors can’t see those new comments under the posts, and comment count stopped at 117.

i can see those comments under posts when i’m logged in wordpress, but ordinary visitors can’t.

what’s even more strange, is that those comments show up on “recent comments”, but not under a post.

and on index page, posts show the exact number of comments, let’s say “4 comments”, but when i enter those posts, it doesn’t show new comments, and now displays “1 comment”.

and that happens to everyone who is not logged in wordpress. what do i do?

i tried changing theme, but it’s the same. i tried disabling all plugins, but the problem still remains.

can the problem be in htaccess file?
