• Hi all,

My website (https://evilbeetgossip.film.com) has been running really slow today, and there have been way fewer comments than usual. I emailed my host about it, and they say that the comments table is just getting overwhelmed and it’s dragging down the whole site.

Is there a way to optimize the comments table? Surely my site should be able to grow without the number of comments dragging down the entire site, right? How do the really large sites handle this?

    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Bump?

    I’m still seeing this problem.

Your comments are probably littered with spam from bots – have you checked? Have you installed an anti-spam filter like Bad Behavior or Akismet?

Ask them again, and tell them that you want actual technical answers, not just made up nonsense. Because that is what that is.

For what it’s worth, I recently installed the DB Cache plugin and that seems to be helping a lot. In case anyone stumbles on this thread later …
