Comments to review when no comment box on page

Hi WordPressers,

Our company site has no comment boxes visible on our pages/articles, however we are somehow receiving spam comments (which we receive as held for moderation).

I’ve checked our Settings>Discussion and there is no way to actually disable comments, which would remove our issue of needing to delete spam.

Is there a way to disable comments completely? Or does anyone have an idea as to how these spambots are able to post comments?
