Community Management plugins?

  • Hello!

    We’re a small company that are looking to start up 3 new websites. All 3 websites more or less has to share the same focus on user/community management, but it’s not a huge focus area of ours.

    We would like our visitors to be able to register an account with username, company and password, and perhaps other information fields. This user then should have access to his/her own user profile page where he/she can tick off/on what newsletters and other sorts of information that we send out they want to receive.

    Techrepublic.com’s user profile pages is more or less a great example of what we’re looking for.

    Does anyone know what this kind of plugin is called, and is anyone able to recommend great tools to do this?
