    Hi,

About a month ago i reported to one of your collegues there was some kind of weird behaviour of WP SMUSH with my backend. It says there is over 500 images, but just 100 odds have been smushed, it throws no errors, it simply dont smush the other 400. I can tell you for sure i dont have 500 images on my web, and it is more likely to hae 100 odds…

Today i started to think about it again, and then i thought… wouldnt this be a incompatibility problem between WP SMUSH and WPML which i use for multilingual website? The WPML comes with a plugin called WPML MEDIA TRANSLATION which as far as i understood it duplicates images per language, and that might be interfeering with the way that WP SMUSH works out the images… Weird thing is that it can find them, but not smushed them.

    Thanks
    kind regards

    Hello andresmolina,

If I remember correctly you can switch between the languages in the admin panel to see content in one language.
If you switch language when you are in media library does it show media files for this particular language and is the smush button for them?
I’m asking this because I never had a chance to test this media add-on in WPML so I’m looking forward to see your answer on this.

    kind regards,
    Kasia

    Hey!

I found out that the software works as long as you smush images country by country. Te only problem is that instead of sumarize all the smushed images from all languages, it shows each language individually, except the total amount of images to smush, which shows the correct number. So let me try explaining it with an example:

    – Total amount of images from all 3 languages: 400
    – Lang 1 (100 images): it shows 100/400
    – Lang 2 (150 images): it shows 150/400
    – Lang 3 (150 images): it shows 150/400

And for that reason it always shows the message “there are images to be smushed” when it is false.

    Thanks
    Kind regards

    Hi andresmolina,

Thanks a lot for the additional info, we are currently doing some tests based on this, however on my installation even with WPML active I can’t replicate the issue as it’s showing only number of images I have uploaded and all of them are shown as smushed.

Can you tell me if this happening only to existing images or to new images you upload as well?

    Best regards,
    Predrag

@andresmolina: Please never offer login credentials on these forums. Really – do not do that here.

The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice, however, by giving someone the keys to your house, you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then the plugin’s author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly offering credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop.

@esmi if i cant even trust the support team of the plugin.. Who the h…. am i going to trust to help the comunity on making a better plugin?

I’m sorry you don’t agree but we do not allow it here.

I did not say i dont agree i just said what do you recomend then…

For the time being, just work with the plugin’s developer here to try & troubleshoot your problems. for example, can you replicate the problem using the default 2016 theme with all other plugins deactivated?

    Oh.. i see,

Mi initial answer to your post was going to be a bit rude, so I decided to calm down, but just quick answer to you esmi, I dont like standard answers to non standard questions. Is not the theme, and yes, I tried it again before I post this just to be able to answer with enough reassons.

I hate so much when you (all the plugin owners or even wordpress devs answers “did you try switching the theme…” or “that is someone elses problems, we cant help you” typical answers playing ping pong with people answers) think we all are granies and treat us like dumbs. I know what I′m doing, and it is clearly and uncompatibility or a bug between the two plugins. With this I mean is not like im asking how to bold out a text on a post.

In any case, thanks for your help, and I will see if I can get this fixed with the help of the plugin owners.

    Kind regards

There is no magic bullet in these situations. This is just basic troubleshooting – a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

And for the record, there is no such thing as a “WordPress dev”. Everyone who provides support here is a volunteer. Everyone Who contributes code code & helps to develop WordPress is a volunteer.

it is clearly and uncompatibility or a bug between the two plugins.

With over 45,000 plugins in the WPORG repository alone, this is not an unusual situation and it does not, per se, need either plugin author to login to your site.

Do NOT offer anyone login credentials on these forums. We do not allow that here – full stop.

@andresmolina I was the one who deleted your last posts. They were argumentative and to put it mildly not helpful.

NOTE: No one here is trying to wind you up. Honest. Let’s keep this topic on your problem for support and move on to just that problem OK?

I’m pinging some of the people who are supporting this plugin. They may be in transit so please be patient and wait to hear from them. Please keep this topic on your problem. Arguing with volunteers here doesn’t help you at all.

Thanks a lot for your help Jan, as stated, sure we will make it to work with the plugin owners [comments moderated].

I will wait till we got some response.

    Hi andresmolina,

I will not get involved in the above conversation and will just continue with our discussion about the issue on hand.

After some additional testing I was actually able to replicate the issue on my installation and have notified our developer about this so they can check it out and see how can we improve Smush compatibility with WPML Media add-on.

Thank you for bringing this up to our attention.

    Cheers,

    Hey!

Im so glad you found the way to replicate the issue, and I just want you to know i will be here for anything you might need on my side for testing it.

Thank god you take your support seriously instead of blaming the theme or any other plugin 10/10 stars on you guys! well done, keep me updated.

    Thanks
    Kind regards
