I just found a permalink related bug with LearnDash 3.5 and LearnDash 3.6 when LearnDash’s post types are extended using Pods 2.8. Sometimes, when lessons or topics are edited, the course URLs get changed from /course/course-name to /sfwd-course/course-name and all links get broken. I’ve verified this on a clean WordPress install where LearnDash and Pods are the only active plugins.

I’ve sent a screen recording of the issue together with instructions on how to replicate the issue to LearnDash’s support. I’ve also given them admin access to the clean demo site. The reason I’m posting about the issue in this forum is to see if anyone has found a solution and maybe help someone who’s trying to figure out why all their LearnDash course links suddenly turn into 404s.

I’ll update this thread when LearnDash has replied or found a solution on their end.

    PHP 7.4
    WordPress 5.8.2
    LearnDash LMS 3.5.1.3 or 3.6 Beta 1
    Pods 2.8.4.1

Final update. I’ve experienced the issue on a site where LearnDash’s post types aren’t extended by Pods. My current issue is hence not related to the previous one and not even to Pods. I apologize for my faulty conclusion.

@karlemilnikka You definitely experienced something that Pods could have done back before the issues we resolved, but I’m glad we can rule Pods out now. If you are so inclined, we’d love to know what your issue ends up being.

Sure. This time, the issue was caused by a conflict between our website configurations and the latest version of our management tool WP Toolkit Deluxe. To reduce the amount of unnecessary styles and scripts, we restrict some plugins to only run on their own respective post types. For some reason, this caused WP Toolkit Deluxe to break all LearnDash CPT permalinks when the website was scanned (something that happens regularly and when the website is cloned to staging).

The reason I thought it was related to the previous issue (the one that actually involved Pods) was because Pods this time fixed the permalinks when I saved an extended post type.

The solution was to simply let LearnDash run unrestrictedly on the frontend, regardless of post type. I guess we’ll have to manually dequeue bloating scripts and styles, but that’s for another day.

(I’ve informed the cPanel team about the conflict.)
