Compatibility with 4.6.x

Has anyone seen the SSH portion working on 4.6?
Mine refuses to work after I had upgraded to 4.6 and returns
“SSH2 – PHP extension is not available”. (in the nicely localized German version, so I’m pretty sure that the errmsg is not coming out of the untranslated plugin but out of wordpress).Many thanks for any ideas, also for alternative plugins not making use of libssh2-php. I’m on a hosted server with little wiggle room for addtl. extensions.

I got such beautifull error:

I’m on 4.6.1
Im on Ubuntu 16.04 + PHP7
