I am using your plugin along side a plugin called Custom Permalinks (https://www.custompermalinks.com). I use the Custom Permalinks plugin for more granular control over page/post permalinks. All works great until I get to the slug under Yoast Snippets. I have to manually manage the slug, which is fine, but if the permalink is something like “/slug/link”, when I try to enter the permalink in to match it, Yoast SEO converts the slug (and the slug in the snippet) to “slug-link”

Any guidance you can offer would be most helpful.

WordPress does not allow / in the slug and Yoast SEO uses the WordPress core functionality. As such, the best advice we can provide is to contact the author or support team for the Custom Permalinks plugin for assistance. They are better equipped to answer questions about editing slugs within their plugin features.

The issue does not, at any time, present itself within their plugin’s functionality or features at any point. The issue arises in your plugin, when I try to ensure the slug matches the custom permalink used for the pages in question.

The slug field that appears in the Yoast metabox is pulled directly from WordPress. The Custom Permalinks plugin does not overwrite the built-in slug. Instead, Custom Permalinks stores the new slug in a separate field and overwrites the built-in with their own.

This is primarily a visual issue only in the backend as far as I can tell. In my test environment, all URLs output by Yoast on the frontend are using the custom permalink. There is one analysis check regarding the keyphrase in the slug that uses the built-in slug field. This warning can be ignored if you have changed to a custom permalink.
