    Hi guys,

I have just installed your plugin for testing. So far it is working very well and we are considering adding it to our suite of base plugins for client sites as replacement for our other (more intrusive) spam prevention techniques.

Our base plugin suite includes Contact Form 7 and a CRM called Flamingo that is maintained by the same devs as CF7. We primarily use Flamingo as a message database in case e-mails sent by CF7 go missing, but it also keeps a record of how often users contact you through the various forms on your website (via the built in Address Book).

Good news – my test message (from [email protected]) was not recorded under Inbound Messages in Flamingo.

Bad news – the email address [email protected] was recorded under the Address Book in Flamingo. If this is the case for other spam messages, the Address Book will quickly fill up with junk email addresses.

I am wondering if you have any future plans to integrate with Flamingo, or to work with the CF7/Flamingo devs to resolve this?

Many thanks and keep up the good work!

    Hi,

yes, I see, the Flamingo stores spam records in database. Ok, let us a few days, I think we can fix this issue in next plugin release.

I will let you know here as we finish. Thanks for the feedback!

    Hi Denis,

Thank you for your response. Great support for a great plugin.

In the last 24 hours, CleanTalk has caught a number of comment spammers. The spam emails did not show up in the Flamingo address book, so I can confirm that this issue only affects CF7 forms that are integrated with Flamingo.

    Thank you.

    Hi prunly,

    Thanks you for waiting!

I’ve deeply tested Flamingo and found that Flamingo stores all spam messages in database, you can find these messages in,

WP backend -> Flamingo -> Inbound messages -> Spam.

Also Flaming doesn’t has native hook to interrupt storing spam senders in address book.

So, it looks like Flamingo authors think that you should have in address book all contacts, no matter spam or real humans.

Any way, I can interrupt storing to address book with wp_die() function, but in this way you will not have spam messages at Inbound messages folders.

    Should I do such interruption?

    Hi Denis,

This is disappointing on behalf of the Flamingo/CF7 authors. I think that in most cases I would prefer to keep the Spam messages marked under Flamingo -> Inbound messages -> Spam just in case there are any false positives.

Flamingo is still a young plugin so I will put in a feature request with the authors for a native hook to interrupt emails being added to the Address Book. I think this is an issue for Flamingo, not for CleanTalk.

Maybe in the future I will request this interruption, but for now I think it is better to keep the spam message just in case.

Thank you so much for your time and assistance.

Denis, please see post below. This will be resolved by CF7 dev (presumably in the next release). Thanks again for your help.
