  • Hi,

we tested our plugin with Page Restrict and I can confirm seeing restricted posts in related posts.

Right now our plans don’t include explicitly adding compatibility with this plugin, but you can prevent restricted posts to show up in related posts in a very simple way: just assign a special category to restricted posts and exclude this category in Related Posts’ settings. You’ll find a list of categories to exclude under “Other settings” section.

    Hope this helps.

Take care & have a nice day,

It is a workaround for the moment because then the Related Posts are not displayed for logged in/authorized users. So I created a new category and assigned the posts.

However, the excluded category doesn’t seem to be respected at all in Related Posts v3.4.2. Posts are showing up in the related lists anyway. Could you please verify the exclude functionality works at all?

    Thanks.

    Hey,
I’m not sure if I understand what you’d like to do, so please correct me if I’m wrong…
Would you like to show restricted posts as related posts only for logged-in/authorized users, but not for others?

Our plugin takes excluded categories into account, but you’re very likely experiencing the side effects of caching. Our plugin caches recommended related posts for individual posts. It might take some time for cache to be invalidated and therefore you can still see excluded posts in the list.

    Yes, exactly.

I’ll wait for the cache to expire then. There is no button to invalidate the cache on demand, right?

Cache gets also invalidated if you update the post itself. Just hit Edit post and then Update. After that you should be able to see refreshed related posts and no suggestions from excluded category.

Regarding showing restricted related posts to logged-in users only: as mentioned before our plans don’t include adding such functionality to our plugin as this would complicate caching process and thus affect plugin’s performance… We’ll see what we can do, but I can’t promise anything…
