• Hi lovely Jetpack people,

I currently use Jetpack to publicise my blog posts on my Facebook Artist Page; but most of my friends don’t currently follow me, and I would also like to publicise to my posts on my personal wall as well.

Jetpack can’t currently do this, and although Jeremy said it was in the works 3 years ago as described in this thread, I’m not holding my breath.

So in the interim while we wait for Jetpack to support Publicise to both a page and a wall, I thought I could install another plugin that supports publication to Facebook and get it to publish to my wall while Jetapack publishes to my artist page. But I’ve had things like this break in the past. For instance, I don’t want two sets of OpenGraph tags; so the plugins need to play nice together.

Has anyone else solved this problem by using a second plugin to publish to Facebook, and if so can you please tell me which one you used?

    Thanks,
    Graham

Jetpack doesn’t allow you to publicize to multiple pages from a single Facebook account, but you can add a new connection to a new Facebook account.

    1. Start by going to Facebook, and log out of your account.
    2. Log back in with another Facebook account which is listed as an admin on the Facebook Page.
    3. You should then be able to go back to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard, and click on “Add a new Connection” to create a new Publicize connection.

We do have a request on GitHub to refine this process, but nothing has been done as of yet:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/2628

I hope that helps! Marking as resolved as this is the current expected behavior.

Thanks for your response, but as I mentioned in the previous thread, having multiple Facebook accounts is a violation of the Facebook Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, and is one way to get your account disabled. So that’s not a viable workaround for me, and the issue remains unresolved for me.

I’m still interested in alternative plugins that would work with Jetpack to make this work without needing a second Facebook account.

    Thanks,
    Graham

I’m still interested in alternative plugins that would work with Jetpack to make this work without needing a second Facebook account.

I’m not familiar with any other plugins that would allow more than one connection per Facebook account, but a cursory search of the plugin directory here found a number of plugins that may work – feel free to choose the one that suits your needs best:

You can continue to use Jetpack and turn off Publicize by following these steps:

    1. Go to Jetpack -> Settings from your dashboard.
    2. Scroll down to the Publicize module.
    3. Click the “Deactivate” link that turns up when you hover your mouse pointer over the module.
    4. You’re done, Publicize has been deactivated.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the reply again. To clarify, I don’t necessarily need another plugin that supports posting to both a page and a private wall (although that would be the ideal solution), what I was asking for was another plugin that would work alongside Jetpack so that, say, Jetpack publicised to the pgae, while the other plugin publicised to the wall; both connected via the same Facebook account. And in particular if anyone knows of a combination that works, since I smell the possibility of plugin conflicts.

It’s less conflicts with Jetpack/Publicize and more that I would guess repeated, concurrent requests through Facebook’s API would be a fast way to have Facebook flag your domain as spam. Their algorithm for flagging as spam is a mystery as they don’t publish those details, but I do know too many requests in a short period of time is one such trigger and it’s not easy to get removed once your domain is flagged.

If you try another plugin and find a conflict, feel free to get in touch and we can try and see if there’s anything we can do.

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I look forward to the day Jetpack can publicize to both a Facebook wall & page, like it can Google+. ??

    Cheers,
