• Hi there,

    Hope you are well.

Firstly, I’m SO pleased that you have built this great plugin! I’ve been doing manual syncs for a while now using CSV files and it’s been a right pain in the neck! I don’t believe this plugin existed last time I looked and so it was a pleasant surprise when I found it ??

    To my question:

I create/update products every night via an automated WP All Import job.

Will updating and creating products in this way work with your Zettle plugin and will the new/updated products also be updated in Zettle now that the products in WooCommerce have been updated in a bit of an ‘unusual’ way.

Hope that makes sense. If not, let me know!.

Many thanks and all the best

    Hello @skafte,

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

For confirming this, you can only be sure by trying this, but I expect that this will cause problems for you. I have experienced with other stock management plugins, that the commit action of an external plugin, will not cause the plugin to react to any changes of the stock or product addition.

In the current situation of the plugin, it will only react to changes when:
    – They are done within WooCommerce and the “Publish” or “Update” button has been used.
    – The status of the product is changed within WooCommerce. When you change the status of all products in bulk within the WooCommerce product overview, the products also trigger the sync to Zettle.

This last option is often used as a workaround to update many products at the same time. Sometimes this is required when stock updates have failed and the stock numbers needs to get corrected.

I am thinking you might run into issues with this, but I would advise you to test this on a staging site, to see how the mix of these plugins works out. We don’t have experience with this plugin so far.
We do have a feature request open for creating a bulk sync/update button, to add a functionality that allow the merchant to push all products and stock numbers from WooCommerce to Zettle on demand, but this has not been picked up yet and could take quite some time before it becomes available.

Let me know if this answers your question.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Once again, thanks for your super helpful response @joostvandevijver !

I will give it a shot and hope for the best! Wish me luck!

My hope is that it will work by <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>not</span> enabling WP All Import’s function called:

Increase speed by disabling do_action calls in wp_insert_post during import.

    https://imgur.com/a/Rq60e8C

Maybe that basically means that I am asking WP All Import to update and create products in the same fashion as if I had done it manually(?).

I’ll let you know how I get on and if I have any success with this.

Oh, this leads me to another feature request, which is to make it possible to schedule syncs! If you, at some point, do develop a force sync function and if it was then also possible to schedule it, then that could be a great solution for everyone who uses plugins or API calls to update inventory ??

    Cheers!

    Hello @skafte,

The scheduled sync, is something I would not expect to ever get developed. Our plugin’s main function is to keep the stock numbers between Zettle and WooCommerce synced in real time. So, it would go a bit against the initial idea of the plugin to create such a feature. I have searched through our backlog, but we don’t have any such request open. If you really think it makes sense, I can create this request and add it to our backlog, but you might already know what I expect on the turn-around-time for that. Next to that, I am not sure if this would even pass our backlog grooming, since it’s changing the main function of our plugin.

However, if you want, I’ll pass it by our team to discuss. Let me know.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Thanks again for your honest feedback @joostvandevijver,

I understand that you guys might not think it to be an important feature and that I’ll probably be waiting in vain and never really see this feature come to life, but I do still think it’s a good idea! ?? I mean if there’s a compatibility issue between other plugins managing stock and updating products (which a fair few do), then this could be a solution where the real-time syncing doesn’t cut it.

I love that the plugin can manage real-time syncing! -but that will render useless to some users if you can’t also work with other plugins such WP All Import at the same time.

By introducing forced syncing and scheduled force syncing you make it possible for medium to larger stores to benefit from this otherwise great plugin, which will ultimately lead to more Zettle sales in the end! ??

Also, I imagine that it wouldn’t be that hard to develop on top of a ‘force sync’ feature – if you do develop that one day. It would “simply” be a case of scheduling that action ??

Thanks again for listening to my suggestions!

    Hello @skafte,

yes, in combination with the sync button, this scheduling option does make more sense. It is just a bit less obvious to us to create that, since the requirement comes out of another plugin conflict.

However, it does make sense now, and I have created a new feature request and linked it to the sync button feature request (because this one does not make sense if the other one has not been created yet). I also linked this 2nd feature request to this .org thread, so you should get informed when it has been picked up and developed/ready for release.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
