Hello, I’ve been testing the WP Multilang plugin with the Twenty Twenty Four theme and there seems to be a compatibility issue with it. With this theme the navigation menu has gone away and everything is done inside the editor tab. When I create a new navigation for a different language it works initially but then if i save the translated page again the navigation gets reset and removed.

My question is, has this plugin been thoroughly tested on the Twenty Twenty Four theme? Seems it’s not compatible.

    Hi,

Yes, the Twenty Twenty-Four theme is compatible. It seems that something went wrong on your end, which is why it’s not working for you. Could you please share a short video showing the steps you are taking and the issue occurring on your end so we can check it accordingly?

Hello, thank you for your response!

    Here’s a quick summary:

Since the Twenty Twenty-Four theme doesn’t use menus as everything is done in the editor tab, admins need to create separate header patterns that include translated navigation menus for each language. This piece also needs to be added to a page template and then setup on each translated page so when the user clicks the language from the nav dropdown, the translated header flips to show correct header.

To re-create this issue, please do the following:

    1. In the Twenty Twenty-Four theme create 2 separate menus. For example one for English and one for French.

    2. Next create a header pattern for French and use the already built header pattern for English

    3. Then copy the page template titled “Page – No title” and create a version for French, so you have 2 templates.

    4. Next, navigate to pages and open a translated page. Make sure the English version has the “Page – No title” attached for its template and the French translated page uses the “Page – No title (French version)”.

    5. Test both pages and confirm navigation is showing the expected translation when going back and forth.

    6. You will not see the navigation show correctly. Either its missing or its duplicating the menu. Try resaving the template for both pages. Then try viewing front-end again.

    7. Next, go back to the Navigation section under the Editor tab and confirm that your navigation menus have not been removed as well as the new page template you created. This specific issue happens consistently

Please let me know if you are successful as I believe there is a incompatibility on using this theme and the plugin.

    Thanks

Further testing reveals that choosing different page templates for each translation version does not work effectively which seems to be the reason for the issues that we’re experiencing. I would test that specific scenario to gauge the compatibility concerns.
