Competitions and Seasons

Maybe I have a problem in understanding the structure of SportsPress but my issue is the following:
For a tennis club I created several club competitons and named them “Men Group A”, “Men Group B”, “Men Group C” and so on. I also created seasons like “2015” and “2016”.
I then created a player (because of tennis I’m using the player vs. player instead of team vs. team settings) and selected the group he’s playing (let’s say “Men Group A”) and the season “2015”. It all worked last year for 2015. But for this year some of the players had to change groups and play now in other ones. So when I take the same player, select additionally now “Men Group B” and season “2016” he also appears now in the 2015 table of “Men Group B” and in “Men Group A” in 2016. How can I tell SportsPress that it’s Competition A in 2015 and Competition B in 2016?
What am I doing wrong?
