• All the content on my website (juliakerrison.com) has gone. In admin there are no posts and no pages. When I log on I get a log and nothing else or an apology and suggestion that I truy searching. I’ve disabled all plug-ins and swapped themes but it makes no difference. The database is still on the hosting site but not being found. Any ideas would be welcome.

  • The database is being found or you would not have a site at all.

cPanel > phpMyAdmin is where you can take a look at post tables to see whether or not they are actually empty.

Thanks but where is cPanel > phpMyAdmin?

    (@jasoncharlesstuartking)

cPanel is your control panel for your hosting. So you’d need to login to your hosting company’s website, using whatever details they provided when you first bought your hosting.

Once you’re logged in, there should be a link/icon to phpMyAdmin (and a few other database creation/management links).

phpMyAdmin will possibly want your SQL username and password in order to see your WordPress database, and you can find that info in your wp-config.php file by using cPanel > File Manager to look inside your WordPress installation.

The best I’ve managed to do is get a file list as below:I don’t know how to use file manager to look inside the WP installation and can’t find the SQL password.

    Transform selected entries:

All Name Type Size Owner Group Perms Mod Time Actions

    Up ..

    htdocs
    Directory 4096 user_106 500 rwx—r-x Aug 16 16:30

Good to know you have at least some files and folders intact. Maybe download from www.ads-software.com and compare to check everything that should be there is really there.

But you’re going to have to get access to phpMyAdmin to check that your posts are still really there.

Can you at least login to the control panel provided by your hosting company? They should have sent you login details in an email when you joined up.

Or when our provider has make backups!
    (see hosting features)
specify the last confirmed day (where the data were present) and can retrieve the data from the provider, specify folder and mysql db and day only www and db – please restore from date xxx

    —- perhaps can help

Finally got into phpMyAdmin. Not sure what I’m looking for though. Does the below mean anything to anyone still out there and helping?

    information_schema utf8_general_ci 17 0 0 B 4 KiB 4 KiB 0 B

Maybe this will be useful: https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-guide-to-wordpress-database-management-with-phpmyadmin/

It explains how to get into phpMyAdmin and what to look for when you’re in there. You need to check that your main WordPress tables are still there, especially wp_posts which contains all your posts and pages.

    (@martinkerrison)

    Posts has an error message:
#145 Table ‘/wrd_T7sM13584365/wp is marked as crashed and should be repaired.

Sounds easy – bet it isn’t. Any advice?

    Jason King

    (@jasoncharlesstuartking)

    1) Use the Export facility in phpMyAdmin to make a backup (or “dump”).

    2) Then tick the box for that crashed field and select the repair option.

    Jason King

    (@jasoncharlesstuartking)

@anunnakii you have a completely different problem, and it’s nothing to do with www.ads-software.com.

You need to ask this question on the wordpress.com forums – https://en.support.wordpress.com/

    Thread Starter martinkerrison

    (@martinkerrison)

Repair option seems to have vanished; it was there before I exported the data.
I’m now getting the message below.
‘The phpMyAdmin configuration storage has been deactivated. To find out why click here.’

When I click to find out I get loads of this.
