I updated the latest WP Statistics a few hours ago. The entire site broke. I could not reach it in any way, not through admin panel or other.

I am now trying a complete backup restore of files and database.

I had the error of the “php-bcmath”. I solved it for now. Just rename the folder of the plugin, and back to the original name. The plugin was disabled and I could access the panel.

Aha. I knew I could rename the plug in to disable it.

But if I then immediately rename it again, back to the original name it will be disabled in the admin plug in panel! Then I can uninstall it through the panel interface.

Thanks, that is good to know. Must be good for any plug in update fatal crash.

My complete restore is still running but the site seems to work now.

Well, what to do? Uninstall WP Statistics? I don’t think another update is recommendable.

@sweden1 — Just use Jetpack; the analytics aren’t as complete, but at least you don’t have to endure this horrible dev’s practices.

I just uninstalled. What I noticed with this plug-in is that it lately has started logging my own hits.

I am no expert on WP. I tried Jetpack long ago. I don’t remember why but for some reason I removed it. I may try it again.

If your panel allows this (or you have ftp access) delete the WP Statistics folder altogether. Then replace it with the previous working version of the plugin which is v 12.6.13. You can select and download this at the foot of this page …

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-statistics/advanced/

You will need to extract the file to obtain the wp-statistics folder. Then copy this to your wp/content/plugins folder. In doing this, your previous statistics are retained.

@dub51uk Thank you. It is good advice for everyone. I just uninstalled completely. I am a little short of time to do this right now.

I also think the results of this plug-in have become confusing lately. It logs my own hits.

    Hi

My site went in to complete crash with the latest update. I mean complete crash.
I’ve spent 10 hours trying to find the problem, fix the problem, 4 hours of support from my host !
This has turned out to be a complete disaster, now costing me 100 dollars to have host tech trying to restore from the back end. NOTHING is right, can’t even log in.
So if you are releasing an update it won’t help cause I can’t come in to dashboard, plugins, whatever I would wish to do.
    So – 100 dollars!!
