Completely NON working extension!

    Installed yesterday this extension and did the setup, blocking among other countries, Ukraine from which thousands spams every day are sent to our sites.

    The GeoIP database is installed, according to this extension:
    Database information
    IPv4 database does not exist.
    IPv6 database does not exist.
    GeoIP2 database exists. File date: 18/Dec/2018 20 h 21 min

    After this, today:
    Spam coming from 46.148.112.131

    Searching in the “Tools” section of the extension: “No country for 46.148.112.131 could be found. Or 46.148.112.131 is not a valid IPv4 or IPv6 IP address” !!!!!

    Searching in the original GeoIP site:
    46.148.112.131 UA Ukraine, Europe
    50.45, 30.5233 500 Atomohost LLC QualityNetwork
    (at https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-demo)

    And same for exactly 562 comment spams at the time I am writing this review.

    Totally not working extension! Deserves a 0.00000 !!!

    46.148.112.131 is resolving the the Ukraine on my database so this must be a local issue.

    I’d be happy to look into this issue with you. Do you perhaps use a caching plugin?

    Hello;
    Yes, WP Super Cache.
    But the resolving of an IP address has something to do with the WP cache??

    Also, for info, using Wordfence.

    I have removed the extension, well, will reinstall it now, so…

    Hi,

    No, not the resolving part. But that might also be a typo or an extra space or something.

    But if you use caching you will cripple any geo blocking you want to do as the most popular (or all if you pre populate your cache) pages will be served from cache.

    For example, with Thailand and Ukraine blocked:

    31.131.108.41 posted spam
    223.206.222.182 posted spam

    Lots of other spams coming from Thailand and Ukraine are blocked, but some are not?

    It really depends on your installation if you for instance use a plugin for replies/comments it might be loaded before the iQ Block Country plugin and thus the first plugin does it’s job before the iQ Block Country plugin can kick in.

    I’d be happy to help if you email support with a screenshot of the info on your tools tab and an export of your config.
