Previously someone had installed Site Kit by Google on the website and it’s been deleted. Recently I was going through the WP database and found 22 entries containing ‘googlesitekit’ and I’d like to know if its safe to find and delete entire rows containing ‘googlesitekit’?

    Sample rows from wp_options:

    1907397 _transient_googlesitekit_verification_meta_tags a:0:{} yes
    1907398 googlesitekit_active_modules a:2:{i:0;s:18:”pagespeed-insights”;i:1;s:9:”… yes
    1907403 googlesitekit_search-console_settings a:2:{s:10:”propertyID”;s:37:”… yes

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for reaching out @webmasterms. It’s safe to remove these Site Kit references, in particular if you’re not planning to use Site Kit going forward. They mainly related to some of the plugin configurations.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thanks, that seems easy enough. I don’t suppose there’s a Help page somewhere with instructions to remove any entries that may be elsewhere?

Unfortunately we don’t have any such guide @webmasterms. You may wish to install and activate Site Kit once more, before then resetting the plugin. After doing so, I believe any plugin related configuration entries are removed. I will perform some checks, while also checking this with the team before reporting back to you here.

I’ll have an update at some stage this week. Thank you!

Thanks for your patience on this @webmasterms. There is a hard reset option that was introduced to Site Kit previously, but unfortunately this requires some additional testing. You’ll find out more on this here. While I’m performing such testing, were you able to successfully manually remove all related database entries?

Just to let you know that we discussed this and I can confirm that there is a hard reset filter you can use to ensure all you Site Kit database entry content is removed upon resetting the plugin:
    apply_filters( 'googlesitekit_hard_reset_enabled', true);?

You’ll find details on this filter here. Note that this will reset all your Site Kit configurations, however, if the plugin remains active there will be new configuration options generated. For that reason we are going to investigate other options for a more complete uninstall based on your query. I don’t have any timeframe or confirmation that such a feature will be introduced, but keep an eye out on the plugins GitHub repository for information on this should you consider using the plugin once more. Thank you!
