Hello- I searched through the archives but I couldn’t find a clear answer: I simply need to completely remove the entire QuickTags tool bar from the “Create New Post” page. Could someone please point me in the right directiopn?
    Thanks! DB~

Thanks phuckd… Maybe I asked for the wrong thing:
What I would like to do is eliminate all, (or some), of the options that appear in the Create New Post Window, such as “insert image,” “italics,” “check spelling,” “HTML,” etc. Maybe these are called Smart Tags, not “Quick Tags” as I said earlier??? Anyway, I don’t see a way to edit these options or the entire toolbar. Any help wuld be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks, DB~

There seem to be some confusion: Quicktags are visible only if the Rich Text Editor (RTE, wysiwyg, tinymce) is disabled!
If your wysiwyg is enabled, you don’t have to deal with the quicktags.js at the location mentioned by phucked.

It is possible to customize the RTE, too, (try a search) but I don’t know where since I never use it.

moshu- Yes, there is, indeed, confusion here, and it appears to be mine! I have wysiswyg ENABLED and the tinymce toolbar is visible in the Write Post window. I was under the assumption that the the tinymce toolbar was a function of enabling the wysiwyg function. Am I wrong or even more confused than I originally thought???
    Thanks, DB~

I guess you are even more confused. Or trying to confuse me? ??

The tinymce toolbar is the wysiwyg itself. It does NOT enable anything.
(Just creates mess… but this is strictly a personal opinion of mine)

If you disable the wysiwig or tinymce or RTE (all names mean the same monster!) – then you’ll see the Quicktags.
No quicktags while the wysiwyg is enabled.

JUst out of curiousity, for disabling it: > Users > Your profile > left bottom corner: uncheck.

I’m starting to think, that the OP wants to totally remove all the CODE for it, in general? Meaning, he’d need to edit the wp-admin/edit-form-advanced.php file itself.. removing all the PHP call tags and javascript codes for it too.. am I on the right track here cielogrande?

OK- I got it done…As you all indicated, it was just a matter of unchecking the right boxes, though I must say that WP’s use of the terms “disable” and “enable” don’t seem to conform to what most people’s definitions of those terms would be. Anyway… thanks one and all!!!

Heh, After all this .. I should have just pasted in this image to begin with!

spencerp- While I often find WP’s use of “English” somewhat baffling, I couldn’t agree more with your characterization of the RTF as “crappy!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
    Thanks! DB~
