All I get on a large desktop monitor is the blog area overlapping the sidebar, and when I make the browser window smaller it’s simply a further disaster.

I took screen shots of the three viewports: https://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b225/dognamedkarma/2015_zps623be29e.jpg

The gray area is the browser window. Looks like my site would only work on smartphones with this theme.

BTW removed and uninstalled the theme. No different.

  • That does look strange – can you post a link to your site?

What browser are you using, BTW?

Do you have any plugins active? Can you try deactivating them?

THANKS for your prompt reply. I haven’t been at all geeky with WP for several months, so didn’t think of plugins. I was surprised to see I had one called Responsive Twenty Ten, which I thought for sure would be the culprit.

No, in fact the guilty party turned out to be Async JS and CSS.

However, once I got the theme displaying properly I realized that my 40+ Twenty Twelve header images were useless, so I’ve gone back to that theme.

Ah cool, at least you got it sorted out. Yeah, images from one theme to another don’t always work since they may not be the right size. And twentyfifteen uses a pretty big image.

Personally, I love twentytwelve, so you certainly can’t go wrong with sticking with it.
