What’s the best tool for composing offline?
I’ve tried Windows Live Writer, but, as others have mentioned from a quick search of here, it does odd things with the HTML code, so I have things like /p in my messages & have to edit them once posted.

I’ve also tried wbloggar in the past, ( https://wbloggar.com/ ) though that doesn’t seem to have been updated.

I’d hoped that with Chrome & Gears I could do it offline, but I think I’ve mis-understood what it does, as I couldn’t get it to do it.

Any suggestions? (Other than Notepad, which I currently use & just pasting it in once I’m back online!)

I’m not sure I really want a code editor – I have Dreamweaver on that PC anyway; it’s more of something to create posts offline & then to post them when I’m back online.

However, your point is valid; I could just use Dreamweaver & then cut & paste into the editor next time I’m online.

I’ve just done some testing (see https://userweb.port.ac.uk/~duke-wie/blog

So far, I’ve tried Scribefire, WindowsLive Blogger & Flock. All of them put some form of extra coding in. I’m sure that they worked fine in the past.

In the settings; under “Remote Authoring”, I’ve got both Atom & XML-RPC enabled, and also “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”.

I’ve got it set so that Disable the visual editor when writing isn’t ticked (so I have the Visual editor as default when posting).

Could any of these have an impact?

However, I’ve tried the plugin that was created & it didn’t make any difference. Guess I’ll just have to wait until the Uni decides to upgrade the server. Could take some time.

At least I know what the problem is, anyway.
