Usually I use https://tinypng.com it has an excellent compression algorithm

No. The ‘premium service’ it’s referring to would be on the server side, not the client side, so that you’re not reliant on the limits of a third-party free service.

I currently use both WP-Optimize and Smush plug-ins.
If we upgrade to v2.3.0 and use your image compression feature, does it effectively compete with hence replace the Smush plug-in?

@thomasprice61 yes it does compete so you shouldn’t don’t need both.
