    Hi there,

so I have a problem with the javascript of YouTube taking a lot of page speed (4s from google site speed tester) so here my question I could not really find a plugin or code that would shorten this time. Altough I have to mention that the page id build with WP Backery where you can just paste the link of video in it and costumize to your needs.

So how can I get rid of those 4 secconds.

WpSpeedplugin installed for better speeds already.

    Thx.

    Kind regards Julius

  • Hi, please post the scripts name or url that you talking about and also the results of the site speed test. Maybe even with a screenshot so we can better see what you are talking about.

These scripts are being loaded by the youtube video it can only be removed by removing youtube itself.

This can be done by for example hosting the video locally https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/html5-video-player/

Note: in Germany you MUST host your video locally, your site is not compliant with DSGVO and you can be fined. Meaning you have to remove the youtube video and add it locally.

I would be happy to check if your changes are DSGVO compliant when you are finished with switching from Youtube to local

    Hi there,

hmmm ok thanks for that. But the thing is the the is embedded in the website over wpbackery as background. Wich makes it responsive. I’ll will ask wpbackery although what solution they have. Thx

    Hi there,

so WP backdry won’t be a solution here.

What I wish for the video ist autoplay not showing all YouTube play paus etc. And that the video widget ist than responsive and results in full screen on every device.

Is there a plugin or css solution for this ?

Thx for helping me so far.

Hi, sorry I haven’t yet worked with videos on WordPress sites and I don’t know a solution for background videos, I can only tell you that playing it from youtube will result in a “Abmahnung” and some fines to pay. There has recently been a german lawyer that has sued tens of thousands of websites that have loaded content from google.

    Hi there,

    ok thx.

But even if I am the owner of this YouTube video.

I don’t think so that this I going to happen to me

    Hi,

it doesn’t matter if you are the owner of this video.

What matters is that this video is hosted on google servers and this is not compliant to DSGVO because of a violation of data privacy.

This happend to tens of thousand of website owners in germany (.de) recently.

    Hi,

okay lol so better showing the video via media section of WordPress.

So I need to find a plugin that does all that kind of stuff.

    Hi,

you would need to upload your video to your media gallery and copy its link then you could use a plugin like this: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/video-background/

    Hi there,

thx for looking out, so I have tried that an I set it up the right way but the pug makes a lot of problems. One of them is that the video only show up in the preview. I have the pro version. I contacted their support but until now no luck. Any ideas ?

Hi, it seems like “wpo-minify-footer” is modifying the JavaScript that is needed for the background video to work. Try deactivating the minifing of the footer please.

    Hi there,

wow thanks for that I deactivated my complete minifying plugin, it didn’t had a option to disable. Thanks for that. A last question of mine would be if you could recommend a nice free minifying plugin ?

    Hi,

I think WP Rocket has minifying, I personally use WP Fastest Cache but I don’t remember right now if WP Fastest Cache does minifying, I think it does.

Btw when you ask for help in the forum and then deactivate the plugin we cannot see the same errors/problems that you were seeing when complaining.

If you had deactivated the plugin 1 min earlier then I wouldn’t have found the error because you already deactivated it.
