Concerned about latest plugin update (security patch)

  • Just noticed this plugin was updated with a security patch after no updates for quite sometime. Was this a real / legitimate update? Is it a safe update?

    I ask because there’s now Chinese characters and really weird FAQs appearing on this plugin’s WordPress page: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-admin-ui-customize/

    Can you confirm the latest update is real or if your WordPress account for this plugin (and the plugin update) have been compromised?

    Yes, it is real /legitimate update.
    I received an external report of a vulnerability, so I updated this plugin.

    Oh, you are right! If there is the next update, I will remove the FAQs content.
    However, the development of this plugin has stopped, so I don’t know if it will be updated in the future.

    Between the Chinese text and the strange FAQs, the WordPress plugin page looked like it had been compromised.
