Conditional Tags to change slider

I changed the location of the slider by changing this line of code
if($hipnews_slider_exclude && is_front_page()){to thisif($hipnews_slider_exclude && is_page(2983)){Here I used the page ID and yet the slider fails to show up. Any hints?
